Sports Injuries

Sport injuries are very common and often need to be managed effectively in order to return to your chosen activity and reduce the risk of the injury recurring.

At Specialist Pain Physio Clinics we provide treatment and rehabilitation for all stages of an injury: early, mid- and late stage. At each stage we promote normal healing, return to activity and symptomatic relief, however this requires different treatment techniques and management depending upon the point of time after the injury.

Acute injury

With early assessment we identify the nature of the injury (e.g. tissues affected & pain mechanisms) and factors that may influence the recovery so that we can intervene to optimise the outcome.

Chronic, persisting & recurring injuries

If the problem has recurred or is persisting in nature we have specialist skills to work with you to maximise your potential in returning to sport. Dealing with chronic pain and injuries requires an in-depth understanding of pain, tissue function and the influences upon these factors. In lessening the impact with our specialised treatment and rehabilitation programmes, we aim to restore function and participation at all levels of sport.

Enriched rehabilitation

We have looked at many modes of rehabilitation and the way in which it is implemented and performed. Extensive reviews have led us to conclude that we must design bespoke and dynamic programmes that have clear goals that are in-tune with your expectations. Therefore we have devised a method of rehabilitation that is steeped in the latest understanding of rehabilitation including concepts of learning, motivation, cognition, function, fitness and fun. It is not only about what you do, it is about how you do it and where you do it. We have considered all of these components so that we can absolutely optimise your outcomes.
