At Specialist Pain Physio we see a range of painful conditions and injuries (see drop down list of conditions from Treatment bar). The problem may have been recent or be persisting (chronic) in terms of pain or limiting activities. In particular we specialise in chronic pain and injury where the problem continues, offering the very latest techniques based on current thinking in pain science, rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
In acute injuries we offer rapid assessment and referral for investigation if required (MRI, X-Ray), an explanation of the problem and treatment. Treatment is guided by the nature of the problem and injury, working with the healing process and relieving symptoms.
Pre-operatively we offer assessments to identify factors that can influence the outcome and subsequent management strategies. This service works closely with your surgeon.
Work-related conditions such as repetitive strain injury (RSI), carpal tunnel syndrome, back and neck pain require consideration of a number of factors including work station, physical and psychological demands, stress and general health. Our treatment programmes incorporate strategies to deal with these factors. Visits to the workplace are available by arrangement as are discussions with occupational health and management to ease the process of return to work or maintenance at work.
Medico-legal cases including road traffic accidents (RTA) and workplace accidents are commonly seen at Specialist Pain Physio Clinics.
Common conditions that we see include back pain, neck pain, whiplash injury, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS, RSD), tendon pain & injury, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, persisting or recurring sports injuries, arthritis, tennis & golfer’s elbow, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome, functional pain syndromes (e.g./ IBS, chronic back pain, headache, migraine), chronic muscle and joint pain, complex conditions, rare and unusual conditions, medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) and multiple pains (widespread pain).
